Mount Tsukuba

Mount Tsukuba, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, is known as 'Fuji in the west, Tsukuba in the east.' It features two peaks: Nyotai-san and Nantai-san, accessible by ropeway and cable car. Enjoy panoramic views of the Kanto Plain from the summit. With easy access from Tokyo via the Tsukuba Express, it’s a popular destination.

Ushiku Buddha | Ushiku City

This 120-meter bronze Buddha is one of the world's largest. You can take an elevator up to 85 meters, at chest level. Recognized by Guinness World Records, its immense size will leave you in awe.

Lake Kasumigaura | Tsuchiura City

The lake stretches from southeastern Ibaraki Prefecture to northeastern Chiba Prefecture and is the second-largest lake in Japan by surface area, after Lake Biwa. In summer, sightseeing sailboats operate on the lake, and in winter, many migratory birds visit. The area is rich in historic shrines and temples, is popular for fishing, and has recently gained international recognition as a cycling route.

Japan's only space engineering research facility showcases various satellite test models, rocket engines used in combustion experiments, a full-scale model of the 'Kibo' module from the International Space Station, and the large pool used by astronauts for zero-gravity training. You can also purchase real space food. Visits require reservations.
